Somerset Photographer, Deborah Johnson

This is me! My squint represents 20 years of fun, looking through a camera lens - and no, I'm not quite ready to go mirrorless!

Above is one of my goofy children at one of my favourite times of year.

Below is actually a screen grab from a scatchy old video from 1993 - it's me wearing my favourite jumper, knitted by my amazing grandma, on stage with my favourite guitar, in France, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, with an indie band called The Becketts. So, a little bit before I started the photography business, but it's just a little glimpse of something else that I still like to do, but with less permed hair nowadays!

Really pictures tell a thousand words!

“Really,  pictures tell a thousand words!”

It seems hard to believe that I’ve been working as a professional photographer for over 20 years. I’m interested in all kinds of photography, I teach the basics in school with pinhole cameras and DSLRs for understanding Aperture, Speed and Exposure.

Over the years I’ve built up a varied client base of local and national clients and I’ve got a soft spot for helping local business and entrepreneurs start out, the home grown talent that Somerset has to offer is astonishing!

I mainly work with Nikon gear and have some trusted Godox lights for studio and on location if I need a little more poke than my speedlights. Editing and processing is a big part of what I do and I work on a regularly calibrated 5K screen to get the best results.

I pride myself in listening carefully to all my clients and every job starts with listening to and understanding my clients needs. I’m equally at home in my studio or on location, love meeting people from all walks of life and always wish I had more time in the day!

My work has appeared in national and local newspapers and magazines, along the corridors of some of the regions best schools, in websites far and wide, above a fair few mantlepieces and, dare I say it, even on the back of a bus!

Clients include: The Sunday Express, The Western Daily Press, The Western Gazette, The Queen Elizabeth Trust, Lloyds Bank, The Co-op, Bannatynes Spa Hotels, Schweppes, Perrott Hill and Stirling Education, Chiltern Bridge School, Redstart Schools, Elat Schools, Thomas Westcott, World Wide Cricket, Jane & Alicia, Little Loris UK …. and countless lovely families across the South West!

That's is enough about me for now - I'd love to hear about you and help tell your story …
